International Health Journalism Fellowship Project

The International Health Journalism Fellowship Project is part of the Kaiser Family Foundation's continuing commitment to work with journalists interested in reporting on public health issues, building on the Foundation’s programs for U.S. journalists that have been in place since 1993.

The International Health Journalism Fellowship Project is an initiative funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation since 2004 to support journalists with a strong interest in reporting on HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria and related health issues.

Beginning in 2004, a series of projects and events have been launched in Africa, India, Russia, and Ukraine. Additionally, the journalism awards in Russia and Ukraine were launched in October 2004, and in India in January 2005 (see below for more details). The International Health Journalism Fellowship Project is closely linked with the Kaiser Foundation's broader efforts to raise public awareness and understanding of HIV/AIDS, including the Global Media AIDS Initiative and loveLife in South Africa.
